About me
I’ve been an artist my entire life. Always exploring the potentialities of every possible material as a medium in creating, eventually favoring paint. I can recall the first time I saw tiny tubes of paint as a child, I sensed the enormous potential and magic in those tiny metal tubes, I knew they were important. Painting puts me in a state of flow where I’m fully absorbed, focused, energized, completely present and joyful engaging with the inspiration at hand. Through all of the twists and turns of life I always come back to my creativity.
I love to create paintings that allow the viewer to be transported by a story they might see or feel in the work. Even the most simplistic of subjects can convey meaning, alluring beauty, and a resonant narrative. It's incredible to be moved by a work of art because you can relate to it on some level, creating a symbiosis between the artist, viewer and the work itself. I’m fascinated by inspiration and what moves and motivates each of us individually. I find inspiration everywhere. I’m drawn to painting various still lifes that hold personal meanings for me, as well as portraying people with a certain character or in a particular light that I feel hold infinite stories. Another subject I'm continually charmed by are animals. As a nearly lifelong vegetarian I’ve always had an affinity towards animals and I love to capture their beauty, innocence and spirit in my work.
I graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology and have always had a creative career. I was a fashion designer for many years in New York city’s garment district working for a leading children's wear manufacturer. Presently I run the art program at a Montessori school on Long Island. Creating curriculum, teaching and curating an end of year student exhibit. Being in the classroom allows me the incredible task of nurturing the creative spark that I believe is intrinsic in young artists from preschool through sixth grade.
I grew up on Long Island in New York, absorbing this beautiful backdrop since childhood. I still live here with my husband and two boys and we invariably explore the natural surroundings, including the beaches, wildlife, farmlife, historic landmarks, seasonal flowers and forest areas as a continued source of inspiration.
